The Langkawi Sky Dome is a unique and first of it’s kind outdoor dome in SouthEast Asia region, launched in Malaysia by former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad in 2014. This is another milestone attractions in Langkawi which is already a famous tourist hub in Malaysia for providing sandy beaches, outstanding resorts, snorkeling & a lot of fun activities.
Langkawi Sky Dome
The Langkawi Sky Dome offers an exceptional 360 degrees panoramic view to its audiences and offers 3D image projections covering the wide perspective while watching animation films. The striking aspect is enhanced by high definition (HD) and enables the visitors to spoil in an extraordinary whim of their vision.
Constructed at a cost of RM1.53 (Ringgit) million by Panorama Langkawi Sdn Bhd, the Langkawi Sky Dome was officially launched and instigated operation in July 2014. The project assimilated expertise from Russia and Ukraine and also received a credential from the Malaysia Book of Records for holding the first stand-alone 360-degree panorama screen dome theatre in the country.
The futuristic-looking architectural project fits perfectly with the overall pattern of the Panorama Langkawi Sky Cab. With soundproofing layers and thermo-isolation, the Sky Dome has been constructed with an aluminium frame covered with pre-fabricated aluminum panels. Inside the Dome, there is a 10 meter n-pressure dome screen complete with DX12 system, equipped with 12 SONY SXRD full high definition projectors. The Sky Dome can accommodate maximum of 50 people with approximately ten minute showcase and is working during the regular operating hours of the entertainment complex.
Built on top of the beautiful, green Machincang Mountain, 708 meters above the sea floor, the Sky Dome is accessible via the Langkawi Cable Car – the Sky Cab. Part of the PLSB initiative, the Sky Dome promises its audiences upgraded service during peak period to condense the waiting hassle that visitors have to face. It has been operational since 20th July and has received an overwhelming response.
